Allu Arjun reveals the release date of his next, Pushpa

All Allu Arjun fans can now breathe a sigh of relief as the release date for his upcoming movie, Pushpa has been announced. Ever since the movie was announced, and its teaser released, people have been waiting to know when the movie will release. The situation has been very volatile during the Covid-19 pandemic as many Telugu movies have had to shift their release dates multiple times. Recently, Prabhas, Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan all scheduled their upcoming movies for a Sankranti 2022 release. But Allu Arjun has decided to release his next, Pushpa, slightly earlier.

Pushpa has been announced to be a two-part story, with the first part releasing in 2021 and the second part in 2022. The first part of Pushpa, directed by Sukumar, is now slated to release on Christmas i.e., 25 December 2021. So far, it is the only major Telugu movie scheduled for that window. The first part has been titled “Pushpa – The Rise Part- 1”. The movie has been trending on social media with the hashtag #ThaggedheLe.

Starring Allu Arjun in a never-before-seen avatar, Pushpa centres around the red sanders smuggling in the Seshachalam Hills of Andhra Pradesh. To add to all the excitement, this movie will mark Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil’s Telugu debut. Faasil will be playing the antagonist in this movie which also stars Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead, Jagapathi Babu and Prakash Raj.

The film was initially supposed to be shot in Kerala. But due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, Pushpa was primarily shot in Andhra Pradesh, with one important schedule in the Maredumilli Forest. With a December 2021 release date, Pushpa is counting on avoiding the Sankranti box office competition and capitalising on the Christmas audience who will be going to theatres to watch Allu Arjun in action.

Earlier, on 2 August, Allu Arjun wished Devi Sri Prasad a happy birthday by announcing his collaboration on Pushpa. The first single of Pushpa will be sung by 5 singers in 5 languages and will be released on 13 August.
