5 projects that are eagerly awaited in Vizag

Vizag is fast emerging as one of the most prominent cities in the Southern region of the country. From striking deals with multiple IT firms to initiating several tourism activities, the city has come on top in the state on several fronts. Many other upcoming projects are deemed to bolster the city’s image further and here are 5 such much-awaited ones.

#1 NAD Flyover

The NAD junction is one of the prime centres in the city and faces traffic related issues throughout the day. A busy junction, which is a part of NH5, that is well connected to the airport and other prominent locales in the city, this place requires better management of the traffic congestion and the upcoming NAD flyover is deemed to do the same.

#2 Metro Rail

The Metro rail project is one of the most anticipated projects in Vizag.Earlier, 5 companies had submitted bids for the 43 km long Vizag Metro Rail (VMR) project.

The companies of Adani Enterprises Limited, Gurgaon, TRIL Urban Transport Private Limited, Mumbai, Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Private Limited, Mumbai, ESSEL Infraprojects Limited, Mumbai and IL&FS Rail Limited, Mumbai submitted bids for the Request for Qualification (RfQ).

#3 LuLu group’s convention centre

UAE-based LuLu group is all set to construct its convention centre in the city of Vizag. The much-awaited project, which will be constructed with an estimated investment of Rs 2000 crore, had its foundation stone laid by Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu recently. The project, which is expected to be completed by 2021, will have more than 200 national and international brands, hypermarket, 11 screens multiplex, family entertainment centre, food courts with 2,500 seats and more than 20 F&B outlets and fine dining concepts, it has been learned.

#4 Google X Research Facility

State Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh and Google X CEO Astro Teller met in San Francisco at the company office last year. In a major step towards promoting the IT ecosystem in the state, an MoU was signed regarding setting up a research facility in Visakhapatnam.

 

#5 Hovercraft Project

The much-awaited hovercraft project in Vizag is likely to be launched in the coming two months. Popular in the countries of Australia, New Zealand, England, and Russia among others, this activity in Vizag will be the first of its kind in India.
