With the protests and movements for Special Category Status in Andhra Pradesh are intensifying, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) is planning to stage a protest in Visakhapatnam on April 30, 2018.
The leaders of the party will be observing April 30th as “Betrayal Day” and all the MLAs, MPs, MLCs and other members of the party have decided to go on a 12-hour fast demanding the Special Category Status for the state. YSRCP President, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is on his ‘Praja Sankalpa Yatra’ across the state and currently in Krishna District, has organised a meeting with party MPs who have resigned their posts recently.
5 of the Party’s MPs, V Vara Prasada Rao, YV Subba Reddy, PV Midhun Reddy, YS Avinash Reddy, and Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, submitted their resignations to Lok Sabha Speaker, Sumitra Mahajan on April 6th, 2018.
The leaders of YSRCP will be protesting with black flags and sport black ribbons while Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy will be continuing his padayatra as usual on that day. However, he would sport a black ribbon too, in support of his party leaders who will be protesting in Visakhapatnam for the much needed Special Category status.
The agitations in Andhra Pradesh seem to be reaching a crescendo with various political parties demanding special status for the state. Several political leaders have been finding fault with the centre’s “attitude” towards the state. They have been gathering public momentum to ultimately exert pressure on the centre for fulfilling the promises made to Andhra Pradesh.
