The wait is over for the scientists of NIO -National Institute of Oceanography. The work on the world-class research laboratory will start with green technology soon here at Yendada.
The project was conceived in 2010 and the foundation stone was laid in 2015, but no progress in the work has been made due to objections over the location of the sites in the ‘no-developement zone’.
Reportedly speaking about the same, Dona Paula- headquartered NIO’s acting director S.Prasanna Kumar said that they had overcome the teething problems faced to launch the work. The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is the Project Management Consultant.
On the verge to get clearances from the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority and the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, NIO research complex will use green technology to construct the buildings and adopt various intelligent features required for a smart building.
The complex will have smart buildings with various facilities such as water recycling, underground cabling and drainage solar power. It would also facilitate studying different features of tidal waves, genesis of cyclone and beach profiling.
