Vizag Yachting Festival to promote the city as a marine tourism brand

Vizag Yachting Festival, a first of its kind event, has set the city abuzz. The festival, which is being organized by Andhra Pradesh Tourism in association with E factor, will be held from March 28 to 31 to bolster the tourism sector in the city.

Speaking to the media persons here on Monday, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister, Bhuma Akhila Priya said that the Vizag Yachting Festival will help in promoting the tourism sector in the city. “With a coastline length of 973 km, Vizag is one of the most beautiful cities in the country. Vizag Yachting Festival is an important event for the city as it is aimed at putting Vizag on the map of marine tourism.”

“Luxury Yachts from Thailand, Mumbai, Chennai, and the Mediterranean waters will be brought in for the festival, and will provide an opportunity for the people to unwind,” she further added. Ms. Akhil Priya thanked the Navy, Port Trust, and fishermen community for extending their support to the festival.

The Minister also informed that talks were on with Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) to place two yachts in Vizag permanently once the festival gets concluded.

It has also been learned that Vizag Yachting Festival is a destination marketing event, aimed at promoting the tourism in the city, and the proceeds from the festival will be used in benefitting the fishermen community.

Mornings by the bay would thus adorn the adventurous air of yacht trips, while the evenings would come alive with galas and dinners.The Yachting Festival apart from cruising through the deep blue waters will have other engaging events such as swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, and fishing among others.
