The Cyber Crime Police of Vizag, on Wednesday, arrested a youth for allegedly blackmailing a woman over her photographs. Identified as V. Srinivas (26) from Telangana, the man has been held on the charge of threatening a woman in Vizag of morphing her photographs and posting them social media if she would not deposit money into his account.
As per the details provided Vizag Cyber Crime Inspector V. Gopinath, the woman approached the police on 16 April claiming that a few unidentified persons had threatened her that her photographs would be morphed and uploaded on social media unless she deposited money in their bank account. Acting on the complaint, the Cyber Crime Police in the city registered a case and began their search for the accused. Eventually, their investigation led them to Srinivas from Kolluru village in Medak district of Telangana. The accused has now been sent to remand. Reportedly, Srinivas was already held by the Cyber Crime Police in Hyderabad for similar acts in the past.
It has been reported that Srinivas and the complainant were in a relationship earlier after they grew close to each other on a social media platform. The accused allegedly caught the woman’s attention by masquerading himself as a popular TV anchor.
