Even though more than 70000 thousand new vehicles took to the road last year, accidents on highways have reduced due to strict actions by the city traffic police department. The traffic police are penalising the ones who are caught in “drunk and drive” test every day. To be more strict, not just the traffic police but 75 police from Law and Order department are being trained to ensure people’s safety.

In regards to a new penalty system, a tablet will be handed over to each of the policemen to capture pictures of the ones who are breaking traffic rules. Pictures of the ones who are driving without a helmet, while using the phone, breaking signal rules and driving without wearing a seatbelt, to name a few will be captured and sent to the control room. The control room will prepare the required challans and send them to the vehicles registered address directly. If the challan is not paid in the given time duration, the vehicle would be seized.
