Vizag residents attack a couple for allegedly practising black magic

A few individuals in Vizag were arrested by the police for attacking a couple for allegedly practising black magic. Taking the accused into custody at Ganesh Nagar in the city, the police informed that a doll seized at the site would be handed over in the court.

Alleging that the couple resorted to black magic, the residents of the area attacked the accused’s house before the police entered into the fray. Apart from controlling the locals from attacking the couple, the police also took a local leader into custody, for allegedly supporting the residents.

Addressing the media, Vizag Airport Police Station, CircIe Inspector Seshu said, “On the speculations that black magic was being practised at Ganesh Nagar near NAD in Visakhapatnam, people attacked the house of a couple in the area. With the information reaching the police, the attacked couple was rescued and taken to the hospital.”

He further added that the attackers even blocked the route to the hospital and staged a dharna, thereby interrupting the duties of the police personnel. “The agitators were taken into custody and taken to the police station. The couple has been admitted to hospital and a case has been registered,” the police informed.

ACP Arjun, while speaking to the media persons, said, “The residents believed that the alleged black magic led to the occurence of undesirable events in their respective families.” Terming the same as unwise, he urged the citizens not to believe in such rumours. The police also remided that attacking individuals on the basis of speculations is an offence.
