A Vizag man’s epic journey of 6000 km on skates for 90 days

Vizag’s Rana Uppalapati has set out on an epic mission to travel across India’s Golden Quadrilateral, skating about 6000 km over a span of 90 days. The campaign is intended to spread awareness and raise support for the education of 25,000 girl children in India.

Rana started skating on Wednesday, 5 September from Bangalore, Karnataka. As a part of his journey, Rana would be covering the cities of Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, and Mumbai, and visit several schools and other organisations to take part in numerous activities. The expedition would also witness him supervising awareness seminars that would be held at different points along his journey. Rana would also educate children about safeguarding themselves against child sexual abuse.

Rana plans on skating for about 6-7 hours each day and using the remaining time in interacting with the people. He is expected to finish his journey on December 4, when he would be returning back to Bangalore.

Uppalapati, who works as a Business Associate for Titan, flagged off the Educate as you Carry Her Onwards (ECHO) campaign under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The journey is also supported by members of CII Young Indians.

Rana Uppalapati is an entrepreneur and skater based out of Vizag. Being a fervent advocate of serving a cause whilst skating, the 37-year-old also holds an account for multiple skating feats, including the 242 km long expedition from Odisha to Vizag that was aimed at raising awareness against Breast Cancer.

You can follow Rana’s journey and support the cause actively on titancompany.in/echo. The funds raised through the portal will be transferred to the NGOs, Nanhi Kali and IMPACT, which work towards child education and have centres spread all over India.
