Vizag railway station to get some major upgrades soon

A master plan has been prepared to meet the future needs at the Vizag railway station. Following a deep analysis on the needs and strategies, the railway board officials have brought forward a meticulous plan to equip the city’s railway station with some major upgrades.

The long-awaited addition of two new platforms at the Vizag railway station is one of the newly proposed upgrades. The officials have proposed two new platforms (that would be numbered 9 and 10) at the Gnanapuram extension of the railway station. As per the concerned officials, sufficient land is also available at the site to facilitate the same. Two more railway lines are also expected to come up for the new platforms.

Construction of an underground subway has also been proposed by the officials. Joining platform 1 to platform 8, the subway would also enable the passengers to get the required platform. Facilities such as battery operated vehicles, elevators, and more are also expected to make life easy while commuting through this way.

The Gnanapuram extension will also be getting a shopping zone, similar to the one at the Vizag airport. After construction, the passengers and citizens would be able to shop for their favourite products in the zone.

Furthermore, luxurious hotels and a modern food court have also been proposed to be built at the Vizag railway station.
