In what might come as an unpleasant piece of news to many meat eaters in the city, it has been reported that sacks of rotten goat heads have been spotted at the Vizag railway station.
Reportedly, a few meat sellers have been bringing in sheep and goat heads from Delhi to Vizag. With a dearth in demand for these in Delhi, a few traders from Vizag have been purchasing them at Rs 25 each to sell for Rs 500 in the city.
However, after being transported from Delhi, many of the goat heads, owing to delayed deliveries and lack of hygienic preservation, are reaching Vizag are reaching in a rotten state. While the sacks containing meat in a reasonable condition are being picked up by the traders, those with rotten heads are being dumped in the premises of the railway station. Furthermore, the meat in these leftover sacks is being devoured by stray dogs and pigs, leading to an off-putting scene.
Reportedly, parcels containing goat heads reached Vizag on Saturday via the Dakshin Link Express. With these fetid sacks causing severe discomfort to the passengers at the railway station, the railway authorities have disposed of them to far off places. However, as reported by Eenadu, with the concerned officials not taking stringent measures to keep a check on this issue, the rotten meat is finding its place in Vizag’s markets.
