Telugu superstars posters used to promote hygiene at Vizag railway station

“I hereby vow to maintain cleanliness in the railway station and facilitate towards Swachh Bharat and Swachh Rail,” declares a proud portrait of Amarendra Baahubali at the railway station in Vizag. As a step towards curbing plastic use and maintaining cleanliness, the authorities have come up with a unique idea of placing several catchy posters at the city

‘s railway station.

In addition to Prabhas’ famous character, Ramya Krishnan’s Sivagami and Mahesh Babu’s Bharat from the latest ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ too have been used to send out messages. While the former’s poster discourages the use of plastic and warns of the penalty against doing the same, Bharat makes it clear that a fine of Rs 500 needs to be paid if a plastic is used in the surroundings of the railway station.

Thanks to the constant efforts of the concerned authorities, the railway station in Vizag has held its sheen for being maintained in a spick and span manner. However, despite several drives being conducted regularly against the use of plastic, the tracks can be spotted with litter consisting of plastic bags.

“Though passengers won’t be fined for the use of plastic, they are regularly told to avoid it inside the station. We want to attract the attention of passengers, so we thought these Tollywood movie stars would have a good impact. Fines are being imposed on vendors using plastics starting from
Rs 500,” Divisional Railway Manager MS Mathur was quoted

as saying by The New Indian Express.
