Three tourists were rescued from drowning at the Rushikonda Beach in Vizag by the city marine police on Saturday.
Samanth Sahoo (28), Hemanth Sahoo (48) and Nikhil Sahoo (18) are from the same family from Chattisgarh. While having a dip in the beach, the three were reportedly drunk. The locals and other visitors have noticed the trio unable to swim and alerted the marine police. The police, with the help of swimmers, swung into action and rescued the three from drowning in Vizag Rushikonda Beach. They were immediately shifted to the hospital and were declared to be out of danger.
Despite the concerned officials putting in constant efforts to raise awareness of the hazards of venturing into the sea, many individuals turn a deaf ear and end up losing their lives. In fact, numbers suggest that as many as 196 lives (on average) are lost each year on the Vizag beach.
It’s high time that the visitors to the beach, especially the youngsters, need to behave responsibly and refrain from venturing into the sea following the warnings issued.
