India’s biggest cricketing carnival will soon be marking its presence in the city. As reported earlier, Vizag will be hosting the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 of IPL 2019. Set to be hosted on 8 May and 10 May in the city, the IPL fervour is expected to grip the fans with excitement. In this regard, the concerned authorities, reportedly, have been busy making the requisite arrangements at the stadium.
The ongoing IPL has been witnessing plenty of high-scoring affairs and Vizag too looks forward to assisting the same in the knockout games. As reported by Eenadu, the curators have been taking steps to produce a pitch that would be highly conducive to run-scoring. With all the eight teams still in contention to make it to the playoffs as of now, it remains to be seen who would be visiting Vizag to thrill the cricket aficionados here.
Visakhapatnam last hosted an international cricket match in February when India took on Australia in a 20 overs encounter. Batting first, the men in blue found the going tough and managed to put up a paltry score of 126 runs, which was later chased down by the Australians. Despite witnessing the likes of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, the fans were left a tad disappointed given the low volume of runs that were churned out on the slow wicket.
