A gory crime scene shocks Vizag and claimed its last victim yesterday. P Hari Santosh aged 26 has been identified as the perpetrator of the heinous incident. On Saturday, the accused set fire on 20 year old Roopa in T Nagarapalem on the outskirts of Vizag. The girl was a second year Bachelor of Science student at a private college in Tagarapuvalasa.
Crime scene: Around 12.30 p.m the accused entered the home of Roopa when only she and her brother were at home. Her parents being daily wage labourers were out. Hari doused Roopa with petrol and set fire to her. Roopa’s brother Upendra tried to rescue his sister and sustained severe burns and was admitted to hospital later. The attacker proceeded to take his own life by jumping in front of a moving train.
Latest development: A day after the discovery of crime scene with double murders, the innocent life of Roopa’s brother Upendra is lost. He has succumbed to the burns that he was admitted with to King George Hospital. Treatment and care and the hospital could not save him. The parents of the deceased Roopa and Upendra are left overwhelmed with grief. Losing both children has left them inconsolable and bereft.
Upendra was a young boy in standard tenth at a government high school in Vizag. He was the topper of his class and his parents aspired to see him as a police officer. His brave attempt to save his sister’s life at the crime scene dealt a vicious blow.
The incident has left three dead, one accused and two innocent. Hari was stalking Roopa and her parents had thought of taking action in this regard. Jilted in love, Hari took to the crime of taking both Roopa and his own life.
