Vizag tops the list of most populated districts in AP

Not just in terms of developing into a beautiful and smart city, Vizag is also expanding in the matter of population. On the occasion of World Population Day, here we bring you a brief detail about the population expansion in Vizag.

One of the major reasons for the city going populated is migration. The city’s advanced growth is making people from other regions migrate to the city in search of jobs and also to establish a business. On an estimated rate, 30,000 to 40,000 families belonging to other regions migrate to the city every year. And around 10,000 to 11,000 houses are being constructed in the city annually, as told by GVMC

The city has expanded to constitute 6000 to 7000 apartments and every year 100 to 200 multi-storeyed buildings are being constructed. Each apartment in the city hold 25 to 30 families, the construction department says.

In a research conducted recently, it has been learned that Vizag constitutes 29.47% of the total population in Andhra Pradesh. The urban population in Vizag is 47.45% of the total in the city. Vizag’s total human count currently is estimated at 47.64 Lakhs.

As the city would be witnessing more civilian growth, GVMC is taking steps to provide the necessary essentialities. The city is constituted in an area of 681.96 sq km.
