Former MP and founder of GITAM dies in a road accident

Former MP Founder of GITAM in Vizag, MVVS Murthy along with two others from the city faced death in a road accident in the US on Wednesday.

It was reported that the accident took place on the Parks Highway in Alaska. Four of them were found dead and several injured. According to Murthy’s relatives, the vehicle the deceased was travelling collided with a truck from the opposite direction.

The other two were identified to be Velivolu Basavapunnaiah and VBR Chowdary.

Murthy was heading to California to attend a meeting with the alumni of GITAM scheduled on October 6. Officials of Telugu Association of North America (TANA) are helping bring back the victims to their native place.

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu mentioned his grief in a condolence message.

Murthy is popularly known as Goldspot Murthy and is a noted industrialist. The GITAM deemed to be University he founded stands among the best colleges in the country and has its branches in Vizag, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
