7-year-old Alana Meenakshi Kolagatla from Vizag has made the country proud at Asian Youth Chess Championship in Sri Lanka. The young chess player has made the city proud by winning two gold medals in the Under 8 girls category.
Taking to the board game at quite an early age, Alana has been taking rapid strides by achieving several merits with her smart play. The Vizag chess prodigy won the district and state under 7 girls championships last year. With a rating of 1800 ELO points, Alana also bagged the prestigious WCM (Women Candidate Master) title. Putting forth commendable shows at Commonwealth Championship and Asian Schools Championship, where she bagged four medals (one gold, one silver, two bronze), are among her other notable achievements.
Drawing inspiration from her coach and grandfather, the little chess master hopes to win many more laurels for the country in the coming days.
