Visakhapatnam likely to witness thunderstorm

In what might prove to be a relief from the scorching weather being witnessed across Andhra Pradesh, a few parts of the state are likely to witness a thunderstorm on Thursday. As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), isolated places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, and West Godavari districts in Northern Andhra Pradesh are very likely to receive a heavy thunderstorm, accompanied by gusty winds and showers, it has been reported.

The IMD informed that there is a cyclonic circulation of winds moving across North Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. “Cyclonic circulation winds are active around Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, due to which the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh will have strong winds, light to moderate rains and thunderstorms. The same weather will continue for the next two days and the day temperatures will be around 35-37 degree Celsius,” B Naga Ratna, an official from IMD Hyderabad, was quoted as saying by New Indian Express.

Owing to the thunderstorms that are likely to be witnessed at parts of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, the day temperatures, on Thursday, in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, and West Godavari districts came down.

“A few parts of the North Coastal Andhra Pradesh might receive thunderstorms on Thursday. It may be noted that thunderstorm activities generally last for shorter durations,” an official of the Cyclone Warning Centre in Visakhapatnam, informed Yo! Vizag.

The IMD officials further added that the parts of Rayalaseema region are likely to experience dry weather with the day temperatures expected to remain 2-3 degrees above the normal.
