Vizag: Two arrested for convincing women to sell their uteruses

In a shocking incident that has come to light, two individuals, including a woman, have been arrested for convincing women to sell their uteruses in Visakhapatnam. It has been reported that the accused persuaded the women to resort to the act by offering hefty amounts up to Rs 8 lakh.

The accused, Jyoti and Sreekanth, have been identified to belong to Bheemunipatnam of Visakhapatnam district. Jyoti, who had worked as a sweeper at a private hospital in Vizag, lured poor women to sell their uteruses by offering hefty amounts. Jyoti has reportedly motivated about 15 women to sell their uteruses and collected around Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000 from them in the name of medical procedures.

Two Town SI V Ashok Kumar, while producing the accused before the media on Wednesday said, “Adilaxmi introduced one Medisetti Venkata Sreekanth, a mason from Vizag to the victims as a medical officer from Raipur of Chhattisgarh. After the victims putting pressure on her for performing the surgery, she started avoiding them.”

It was after a few women lodged complaints with the local police that this hideous crime came to light.
