The summer has been a scorching one this year. With the sun blazing away, several citizens have been complaining about the soaring mercury levels. While there have been incidents of sunstrokes reported, things turned worse when a traffic cop succumbed to one on Sunday in Visakhapatnam, leaving his family in total despair. The deceased has been identified as LS Ramakrishna (52), who served as a Traffic Head Constable in the city.
As reported by a local daily, Ramakrishna regulated traffic at Pandurangapuram from morning to afternoon on Sunday. After returning home for lunch, he expressed severe uneasiness and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. However, the traffic cop breathed his last while being treated at the hospital. As informed by the family members in Visakhapatnam, the doctors cited sunstroke as the cause of his death.
The family members alleged that despite being ill, Ramakrishna was not granted leave by his higher officials. They further alleged that working under such circumstances worsened the health condition of Ramakrishna, which ultimately led to his death. The family members have asked for a probe into the incident and demanded suitable action.
