More than 100 students from interior villages of Visakhapatnam get a unique experience with ‘Vikas Yatra’

Numerous youngsters from the villages of Visakhapatnam agency had an experience of a lifetime. As many as 102 students from the interior villages of Annavaram, Chintapalli, G.K Veedhi, and Seeleru mandals visited the city in two buses and were subsequently taken around the city by the district police on Saturday and Sunday.

As a part of the ‘Vikas Yatra’, the students were taken to the airport, Visakhapatnam Port Trust, Kursura Museum, VUDA Park and VUDA City Central Park. The students, who were confined to their villages since childhood, even enjoyed a screening of ‘Garuda Vega’ at the Leelamahal theatre.

For night stay, the students were accommodated at the police training colleges at Madhurawada and Bakkannapalem.

Superintendent of Police, Rahul Dev Sharma IPS, said the main agenda of ‘Vikas Yatra’ was to make the youngsters aware of the city life and various developments.

He advised the youth to make use of several tribal welfare schemes in order to avail the benefits being provided by the government.

Speaking at the event, many youngsters mentioned the fact that this was their maiden visit to the city and has given them the wonderful opportunity to get insights on various aspects of city life and development. One of the students also mentioned that it is imperative to construct good roads and provide internet facilities in the villages so as to facilitate decent connectivity to other places.

The students also participated in a flash mob that was organised on Sunday evening near the YMCA on the beach road.
