To control the crime rate in the outskirts of Visakhapatnam and especially in the agency area, the city police have introduced a real-time visitor monitoring system which would help in keeping an eye on criminal activities.
Anakapalle, Paderu, Araku and Narsipatnam in the district have been known to be the areas housing criminal activities.
Rural Superintendent of Police, Rahul Dev Sharma, said, “The VMS has been installed in almost all the lodges and hotels in Anakapalle, Paderu and Araku. It will be shortly installed in Narsipatnam too.”
The SP also mentioned that the VMS would be installed in the hotels and lodges and in turn connected to the Central Command Centre of the online Visakhapatnam district police.
“The moment a visitors check in a hotel or a lodge, their photographs and other details such as Aadhaar card number or driving licence ID will be uploaded and those can be accessed from the Central Command Centre. The server is connected to the database. The moment the details match with a person with a criminal history, the visitor is put under surveillance,” said the SP.
