Visakhapatnam gears up to go pink

Visakhapatnam is gearing up to go pink as yet another edition of Pinkathon beckons the city. The event has created space for women across the citiy to come together as a community and extend support to the country’s largest running event dedicated to women and spreading awareness on breast cancer. Gearing at taking up health and fitness into one’s hands, the awareness run is one of its kind. The run will be spearheaded by fitness promoter and Pinkathon ambassador, Milind Soman.

Starting one month prior to the run, the ambassadors will also conduct awareness campaigns on every Saturday leading up to the event. The ‘Baby Wearing Walk’, which encourages mothers to participate in a walkathon whilst carrying their babies, would also be a part of the awareness raising campaign.

The poster for Vizag Going Pink, a-women-only-run, was launched by AU rector, Mrs.Gayatri Devi, Best teacher awardee, on 7 September, in Andhra University amidst the team of ambassadors and students. Pinkathon will be held on 27 October 2018, on the Beach Road.

Register for the event before 30 September and get a free bib(participation) for your domestic help or a family member. Proceeds from the event will be given to Backward Rural Education And Development & Cancer Research.
