Visakhapatnam North gears up for a heated battle in the upcoming polls

The 13th ward in the Visakhapatnam North area witnessed a flutter of activity on Tuesday night as the Telugu Desam Party candidate, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, led his campaign into the locality. Fervent party supporters, sporting the quintessential yellow gear, were to be seen everywhere as the politician addressed the crowd.

Similar sights have now turned common in the constituency as it gears up for a multi-cornered battle in the upcoming Assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh. Political pundits opine that while most of the constituencies in Visakhapatnam would be in for a three-way battle, Visakhapatnam North might well be looking at a four-way tussle.

Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who was elected from Bheemili in 2014, has been entrusted with Visakhapatnam North this year. Apart from orchestrating poll strategies, the TDP leader, along with his son and daughter, has been canvassing aggressively in the region.

Seasoned campaigner and the outgoing MLA from the constituency, P Vishnu Kumar Raju, is once again contesting for the seat on a BJP ticket. The BJP leader has been campaigning in the area for the past few days and claims to have worked well in the past five years.

KK Raju would be contesting for an Assembly seat for the first time. The YSRCP candidate, who would be locking horns with senior politicians Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Vishnu Kumar Raju, exudes confidence in his efforts at the ground level and hopes to hoist the YSRCP flag in the region.

Janasena Party‘s Usha Kiran, on the other hand, is yet to gather momentum in her campaign and will be looking to up the ante soon, given that there are just about two weeks to go to the polls.

It would be interesting to see which way would the voters in the area decide to go on April 11.
