Visakhapatnam stands 17th in the ‘Ease of Living’ Index

In the recently revealed ease of living index, Visakhapatnam, with a score of 46.52, has stood 17th among the 111 cities that have been surveyed across the country. While Pune has topped the list, Navi Mumbai and Greater Mumbai followed suit by bagging the second and third spots respectively.

Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati and Vijayawada too, have been ranked in the top 10 liveable cities in the country. While Tirupati stood 4th on the list, Vijayawada bagged the ninth spot. The other cities in the top 10 of the list include Chandigarh, Thane, Raipur, Indore, and Bhopal. Telangana’s Karimnagar and Hyderabad stood 11th and 27th respectively in the list.

The rankings were awarded based on four parameters-institutional, social, economic and physical infrastructure. While Visakhapatnam performed well in the of institutional and physical parameters, a below-par performance of the social and economic fronts meant the city missed on being listed in the top 10 of the ease of living index. The city was ranked 10th in the institutional and physical parameters.

“In a proud moment for the citizens and officials, Visakhapatnam performed impressively well on the #EaseOfLiving Index survey. On individual parameters, the city is ranked 10th for Institutional aspect and 8th for Physical aspect,” a tweet from the official account of Visakhapatnam district read.

“Congratulating the citizens and officials of Tirupati and Vijayawada for performing well on the #EaseOfLiving survey done by @MoHUA_India in which 111 cities were assessed on the basis of Institutional, Social, Economic and Physical aspects,” Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu took to Twitter after the rankings were announced.
