Drunk driver creates ruckus on the beach road in Vizag

The ‘no vehicle zone’, which extends from 5 am to 7.30 am, is much relished by everyone who loves immersing in a calm and rejuvenating atmosphere at the beach in Visakhapatnam. This tranquil atmosphere was, however, disrupted on Monday morning by an over-speeding car that was being driven by a drunk driver.

A major mishap was averted as the car narrowly missed hitting the pedestrians. As per a report

in The Hindu, a high-end car, which consisted of two individuals, somehow avoided the barricade near NTR Statue before hitting the metal road stoppers near Viswapriya function hall.

After the vehicle came to a halt, the morning walkers rushed to the spot and started questioning the individuals. The issue turned ugly in a few moments as the walkers started roughing up the duo after a verbal spat. Reportedly, both the individuals even suffered some bleeding injuries. They were then handed over to the police by the morning walkers.

The two individuals, who were under the influence of alcohol, have been identified as as Sunil Deepak from Bengaluru and Praveen, now a resident of Australia. A couple of liquor bottles were also found in the car.

The police informed that both the accused attended a liquor party at one of their friend’s place on the previous night. The police added that both the individuals confessed that they were out of the city for many years and had no idea regarding the ‘no vehicle zone’.

A drunk and drive case has been filed against the duo which will be produced before the court shortly.
