Borra Caves in Araku, Visakhapatnam
Located in the scenic Ananthagiri hills of the Araku Valley in Visakhapatnam, Borra Caves are a highly popular tourist destination among the national and international tourists who visit the district. The caves offer spectacular sights of stalactites and stalagmites which are nearly a million years old. Adding to its specialties is the newly installed WiFi zone.
While Borra caves have been attracting many tourists over the years, lack of a few facilities has played the spoilsport regularly. Tourists here have complained of poor mobile network connectivity and internet access among other issues. However, a recent development might just bring forth what many have been asking for. Telecom giant BSNL has set up a free-WiFi zone at the Caves, much to the delight of those on the constant lookout for the internet.
As reported by Eenadu, BSNL has taken this step considering the amount of BSNL users in the surrounding area. Also, the new facility has been installed keeping in mind the huge number of tourists who visit this natural wonder in Visakhapatnam every day.
It may be recalled that a few years ago, Borra Caves were recognised as a natural UNESCO world heritage site. The caves, which have been recommended by the Archaeological Survey of India, were discovered in 1807 by the Geological Survey of India.
