Thai airline’s 180-seater flight set to fly to Bangkok from Visakhapatnam

After yielding a great number of Indian visitors from air-linking Bangkok to Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad, The Tourism Authority of Thailand is introducing connectivity flights on four weekdays in Visakhapatnam. They are confident of an increase in the number of Indian tourists with Thai AirAsia’s introduction of the 180-seater Airbus 320 from Visakhapatnam International Airport.

Leaving Visakhapatnam on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, the return flights from Bangkok would be on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The flight would commence from Visakhapatnam on 8 December at 0:15 a.m.

“Because of availability of many value packages, the demand for Thailand has always been more in India compared to other countries. The demand for travel to Thailand is increasing manifold due to excellent tourist locales as well as low airfare, accommodation, and food,” an official of AirAsia told The Hindu.

Footfalls in Thailand from India have been rising since 2016 when direct flights connecting the two countries were launched in Kochi. In 2017, India was ranked sixth in terms of tourist arrivals in Thailand. As many as 8 lakh Indian tourists had visited the country in the first half of the year and about 30% of them were from South India.

The promotional fare to Bangkok is Rs 2999 one way and the tickets for flights in the near future are almost sold out. Reportedly, AirAsia airlines would further be connecting to 21 destinations within Bangkok.

It has also been reported that a group of 20 members from Tours and Travels Association of Andhra (TTAA) will take the inaugural flight to study the tourism potential to be explored in Thailand.
