Vijay Deverakonda to soon make his Bollywood debut

Actor Vijay Deverakonda, who is currently on a roll in Telugu film industry, will soon be making his Bollywood debut.

Deverakonda’s mercurial rise to fame was launched by his last year’s blockbuster film, Arjun Reddy, which helped him gain craze pan-India. The actor then accounted for two more successes with Geetha Govindam and the recent Taxiwala.

There have been speculations that certain Bollywood filmmakers have set their eyes on the young Telugu actor, given his following among the audiences of other languages as well.

Reportedly, the Arjun Reddy star has been roped in by the makers of 83, to play the role of former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth. 83, which is a biopic of legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev, features Ranveer Singh in the lead role and would be showcasing how he led the nation to its first World Cup glory in 1983.

Krishnamachari Srikkanth was an opening batsman of the Indian team that won the World Cup in 83 and was a crucial member of the squad. The Tamil cricketer, who enjoys a special camaraderie with Kapil Dev, will now be portrayed by Deverakonda in 83. The film is being directed by Kabir Khan of Ek Tha Tiger fame and is expected to hit the screens in 2020.

Vijay Deverakonda is currently shooting for his upcoming film Dear Comrade while Ranveer Singh is awaiting the release of Simmba

on 28 December.
