From being a popular tourist attraction to paving its way to shape as a smart city, Vizag is hand-picked as one of the must-visit places in the country. With a lot of scenic views, tourism locations spread around, the city has been experiencing a major growth in tourist footfall day by day. Keeping this in view, DGP RP Thakur has asked the city’s Police department to send a proposal about tourist police station to the State Government.
The DGP said, ” We were asked to send a report mentioning about the need for tourist police station in Vizag. The proposal will be tabled before the State government and then we would wait for its nod.”
In any case of eve-teasing, thefts, robberies, attacks and misbehaviors, the tourists can visit the exclusive police station. One can also report about drowning if spotted at any location. The personnel at the station would be wearing special uniforms and also, teams would be patrolling at different locations in the city.
As per the reports from the CM office, about 2,05,40,065 domestic and 1,04,458 foreign tourists footfall has been recorded in Vizag. This year, 1,28,17,110 domestic and 57,694 foreign tourist fall has been observed in the city.
