Vizag to host annual convention of tourism for the first time in AP

Vizag has taken its place in the list of tourism hubs across the country and is thriving forward to stand amongst the best tourist places around the world. The city, known for its locations that are worth visiting, has now many more attractions being added to the showcase.

In addition, the Tourism Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Bhuma Akhila Priya, has mentioned at a press conference in Vijayawada that the 34th annual convention of Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) will be held in Vizag from September 6 to 9 this year.The tour operators convention is going to be held in Andhra Pradesh for the first time and about 1100 tour operators will meet at the convention to discuss the latest expansions in the field of tourism across the world.

The Tourism Minister also said that the state holds a coastline of 973 km which constitutes important sites that can be developed for temple tourism. Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department MD Himanshu Shukla said that a lot of places across the coastline are out of reach. However, Mr. Shukla further informed that 40 locations have been identified by the department which can be developed with basic infrastructure.The locations were selected in view of the demand and potential of attracting people around the world, he added.

IATO President, Pranob Sarkar, mentioned that the importance of the convention is to bring out ideas showcased by other states’ tourism departments which will help to focus on Andhra Pradesh tourism sectors.The main objective of the event is to attract tourists by showcasing facilities and destinations, he said.

Rajiv Mehra, Vice-President of IATO, said that “Run for Tourism” will be a part of the event and will be organized at the beach road in Visakhapatnam

on 7th September 2018.

The city of destiny awaits to welcome such convention events which help in showcasing the beauty of Vizag to the world and take the city forward as a tourist hub.
