Cyclone Mora Bay of Bengal
The temperatures in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are all set to rise up from next week due to the cyclonic storm brewing in the Bay of Bengal. Cyclone Mora is touted to be the first cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal in the pre-monsoon seasons of April and May. The cyclone first appeared as a well-marked low pressure yesterday around 800 KM east-northeast of Colombo.
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have already witnessed rising temperatures, registering at two or three degrees above normal. The weathermen from the Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad credited the rise of evaporation levels in the atmosphere for the cyclonic system.
Reportedly, a low pressure system has developed over the Bay of Bengal, gathering moisture from its surroundings to gain strength. When moisture is evaporated, it is only normal that the land goes dry, resulting in increasing temperatures. Rayalseema and Telangana and interior parts of coastal AP are all set to become hotter in the coming week. Except Khammam, all districts in Telangana have recorded temperatures above 40 degrees yesterday.
Visakhapatnam Airport registered a temperature of 37 degrees against the normal 35.3 degrees and Kurnool, Kadapa and Anantapur saw the temperature reach 42 degrees. The chances are hence high for a cyclonic storm to brew, however, it will not be reaching the AP Coast. It will instead be moving towards Bangladesh or Myanmar, passing nearly 300 KM away from the coast. What is unfortunate is, the cyclonic storm will not be resulting in rainfall in the state.
