Each year, Sankranti marks the onset of big-ticket films in Telugu. With Sankranti being a popular festival in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, filmmakers and actors look to cash in on the holiday season in January and make merry at the box office. This year too, seems to be no different with a wide range of exciting Telugu movies all set to thrill the movie lovers in January.
NTR is one of the most-awaited Telugu movies releasing this Sankranti. The film, which will be charting the life of the legendary actor-turned-politician, has Nandamuri Balakrishna playing the titular role. While Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has been roped in to play the female lead, Rana Daggubati and Sumanth also form part of the film’s epic ensemble. The film will be releasing in two parts-NTR Kathanayakudu and NTR Mahanayakudu, with the first part slated to hit the screens on 9 January.
Having succeeded with his previous Sankranti releases, actor Ram Charan will once be testing his luck in 2019 with Vinaya Vidheya Rama. Directed by Boyapati Sreenu, the film promises to be a high-voltage action-entertainer and also casts Vivek Oberoi as the antagonist. Touted to release on 10 January, the film is currently creating quite a buzz with its teaser.
Superstar Rajnikanth will be kicking off the new year with Petta. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the film stars an exciting fold of superstars including Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha Krishnan and Bobby Simha among others. The film will be releasing on 10 January amid much hype and frenzy.
An exciting multi-starrer that is lined for a release this Sankranti is F2: Fun and Frustration. With Venkatesh Daggubati and Varun Tej helming the lead cast, the film is being directed by Anil Ravipudi, who is riding on the successes of his previous three films. The film is expected to greet the audiences on 12 January.
