Popular Telugu books ‘Chandamama Kadhalu’ can now be read online

Childhood holds many special treasurable memories for all of us. Be it the summer vacations with our cousins, the incomplete home works, or even the chirpy cartoon shows, this phase has enough memories to send a happy tear trickling down our cheeks.

Talking about memories, how many of you remember our childhood favourite ‘Chandamama Kadhalu’? How beautiful were the days when our grandmothers used to read out these wonderful storybooks during our bedtime?

About Chandamama

‘Chandamama Kadhalu’ is a long forgotten classic Telugu storybook for children. Most of the stories published were fiction-based and entertained the fans for many years. Another factor that made it a crowd-favourite was its simple third-person narration style.

The book was started by B. Nagi Reddy, the founder editor of the magazine and a leading film producer in South India, along with Chakrapani, who was a prime figure in Telugu Literature. As a matter of fact, Mr. Chakrapani edited the magazine for 28 glorious years until his death.

In 2007, Geodesic bought the book, planning to take the six-decade old magazine into the digital era. This, however, did not materialise owing to multiple reasons.

Good News, finally!

Much to the delight of all its loyal fans, ‘Chandamama Kadhalu’ has once again reincarnated itself in this digital era. After being non-operational for almost four years, the Chandamama website is once again up and running. Thanks to the enhanced and revamped site, we all can again indulge in our childhood fantasies and sail across some magical worlds.

The site enables the users to read their favourite books in a language of their choice for free of cost. This not only is a positive step towards encouraging the reading habit but also gives the younger generations a chance to get a flavour of these classic books from the yesteryears.
