Swine Flu worry resurfaces in Vizag as three members get hospitalised

The worries of swine flu seem to be resurfacing in Vizag with three members of a family being diagnosed with the disease.

An employee of an insurance company in the city and two of his family members have been admitted to a private hospital after showing symptoms of swine flu. Reportedly, the said employee showed these symptoms after returning Vizag from Srikakulam. The health officials revealed that the disease spread from him to the other two family members.

With the temperatures in Vizag plummeting drastically over the past few days, there’s an increased chance of being vulnerable to swine flu, Nodal Officer Kalyan Prasad told. He also informed that given the surge in the number of individuals travelling in and out of the city during the festive season, communicable diseases are likely to spread faster. Mr Prasad advised refraining from venturing into the cold and opting for sparsely crowded spaces.

Officials have advised to consult a doctor if any of the swine flu symptoms are noticed. Consuming freshly made food and getting rid of stagnant water in and around one’s house are the other precautionary measures that have been advised by the officials.

A few months ago, Vizag was put on high alert following a slew of swine flu cases that were reported in the district. However, just when the panic seemed to be on the decline, the recent wake of events has led to concerns yet again.

Here are a few symptoms of Swine Flu. Consult a doctor if you notice any of these:

  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Cough
  • Sore Throat
  • Body Aches
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhoea
  • Nausea and Vomiting
