In a step to keep a check on the spread of swine flu in Visakhapatnam, the authorities have decided to set up three screening centres in the city. These centres, which would be coming up at Visakhapatnam airport, Railway station and RTC Complex, will be used to screen the individuals coming from other cities of swine flu.
The decision was taken at a review meeting that was held at the Visakhapatnam Collectorate on Monday. District Collector Pravin Kumar discussed in detail with the superintends of various government and private hospitals in the city to curb the spread of swine flu at the entry level.
Reportedly, it was identified that the flu was being carried to Visakhapatnam by those entering the city from metro cities. Keeping the same in view, Mr Kumar directed the officials to supply Tamiflu tablets free of cost to anyone who’s diagnosed with the disease.
The Collector also informed that the government has already procured Tamiflu tablets and they should be made available at health centres, airport, railway station and RTC Complex.
The officials are planning to deploy health officials at the airport, railway station and RTC Complex in Visakhapatnam to scan the passengers suffering from a cough, cold and fever, and report them to the swine flu screening centres.
