Food delivery giant Swiggy to launch operations in Visakhapatnam

Major food delivery app Swiggy is planning to launch its operations in Visakhapatnam, as announced by Sriharsha Majety, CEO & Co-Founder Swiggy, at StartAP. “We plan to launch our services soon in Vizag and look forward to be a part of the flourishing culinary culture in the city. By partnering with various restaurants and creating robust employment opportunities for delivery partners, we hope to make a contribution in boosting the local economy,” said Sriharsha.

Swiggy was awarded as the ‘Startup of the year’ at the recently held StartAP awards in Visakhapatnam.

Launched in 2014, Swiggy has grown to emerge as one of the most popular food order and delivery apps in the country. The app’s services are currently being availed in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida, and Pune, Given the latest trend of the advent of similar services in the city, Visakhapatnam would be a welcome addition to the list.

In addition to being famous for delivering food orders, Swiggy is also known for its order analysis of each year. In 2017, while Chicken Biryani stood out as the most ordered food item online, Masala Dosa, Butter Naan, Tandoori Roti and Paneer Butter Masala, were among the other popular dishes. It was also revealed that Pizza was the most searched food item, with close to 5 lakh searches on the online platform.
