With the Dussehra festivities garnering substance in Vizag, the devotees have started flocking the temples in the city and numerous sacred shrines in Vizag have already donned a vibrant form. One such temple, which has made headlines for its unique style of celebrating the festival, is Sri Kanyaka Parameswari temple.
Reportedly, the goddess here was gifted Rs 2 crores worth jewellery and Rs 4 crores in cash on Sunday. The currency notes were also used to decorate the interiors of this popular sacred summit.
Traditionally, the goddess in the temple is wrapped with gold ornaments and offered new currency notes each year during Dussehra.
As per a report in the NDTV, it has been informed by Kolluru Venkateswara Rao, chairperson of the temple committee that people believe it as a lucky charm to place their gold and money before the goddess during the Puja. Informedly, the committee keeps a tab on who’s placing the amount, which is later returned to them, after the completion of the Puja.
