sreesanth ban lifted
We all remember the catch Sreesanth took in the final of the ICC WT20 in 2007. The catch won India its first WT20 title. He also bowled a memorable spell against the mighty Aussies in the Semi final of the same competition and played a key role in India winning it. Unfortunately, 10 years down the line, his career is in dire straits after the life ban imposed on him.
Sreesanth was caught in a spot fixing scandal in IPL 2013 and hasn’t been allowed to play the game ever since. The fast bowler was, however, cleared by the Delhi High court in 2015. But the BCCI still refused to lift the life ban off him. Sreesanth feels that BCCI’s refusal to lift the ban is denying his constitutional rights. In fact, he was even not permitted to play the Scottish league a few months ago.
During the last four years, Sreesanth tried his luck in Politics and movies. In last elections, he was BJP’s candidate from Thiruvananthapuram. Also, his debut film, Team 5, has recently hit the theatres.
But in what comes as refreshing news to his fans, the Kerela High Court has ordered the BCCI to lift the life ban imposed on him. This comes as a major respite to Sreesanth who has been battling for the past four years to revive his career. He said that he’s physically fit and will soon hit the ground. Sreesanth also expressed his desire to play for the Kerela Ranji team.
Meanwhile, The Kerela Cricket Association (KCA) also expressed its joy over the decision. It’ll be interesting to see if Sreesanth does make a comeback into the Ranji side. His fans will be hoping to see those lovely outswingers once again on the cricket field.
