Humanoid robot Sophia to thrill the city at the Vizag Fintech Festival

The world’s first social humanoid robot Sophia will be thrilling the city at the upcoming Vizag Fintech Festival. The robot will be arriving packed in a suitcase from Singapore on 22 October and assembled before it’s brought to the festival on 23 October.

Sophia would interact with the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu and discuss the nuances of Fintech adoption in India. Deemed to be the star attraction at the five-day event, Sophia would also be taking part in an interactive session on the following day.

Developed by Hong Kong-based Hanson Robotics, Sophia was granted with a Saudi Arabian citizenship, making her the world’s robot to get nationality. Interestingly, she also has more rights than any other woman in Saudi Arabia. Sophia has no male guardian and wears no abaya – two restrictions that are imposed on Saudi women.

Sophia is not only designed to showcase many expressions but is also designed in a way that she will learn and adapt daily via conversations with humans and other robots, and will keep getting smarter with time.
