Clearing numerous speculations, it has finally been announced that Shahid Kapoor will be playing the lead role in the Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy. The news was confirmed by the director Sandeep Reddy Vanga in an interview to Firstpost. It has also been reported that the remake is likely to go on floors in June this year.
The director, in the interview, said that Shahid Kapoor, as an actor, had no inhibitions and would be the perfect fit to play the role of Arjun Reddy, which has a lot of rage attached to it. Mr. Vanga further informed that the Hindi version of the popular film, would more “hard-hitting”.
While the remaining cast of the film is yet to be finalised, it has been learned that Murad Khetani and Ashwin Varde will be producing the film and had to reportedly shell out Rs 7 crores to buy the remake rights.
Arjun Reddy, which released in August last year, not only struck a chord with the local audiences but also caught the attention of movie enthusiasts all over the nation.
Apart from a riveting performance by Vijay Devarakonda, who played the titular role, the movie was also hailed for its brilliant script and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s bold narration.
The film went on to emerge as a roaring hit and raked in huge collections at the box office.
Earlier, it was reported that the Tamil remake of the film, titled ‘Varma’, will have Chiyaan Vikram’s son, Dhruv play the lead role and is being directed by Bala.
