The Student’s Federation of India (SFI), on Tuesday, went on a protest against conducting classes during summer vacation, at some corporate colleges, in Visakhapatnam.
The SFI leaders claimed that a few colleges were organising classes even after the completion of the intermediate examinations. The classes, allegedly, were conducted in the name of advancement and betterment of students. These classes allegedly violated the government norms by demanding huge fees.
Further, the management urged the students not to come in uniform and to wear a formal dress instead. They also pressurised them that their section would be changed if they did not attend the classes and an additional fee would be charged if their section gets changed.
The leaders commanded the Regional Inspecting Officer (RIO) to take an action against such colleges.
Later, an SFI statement informed that the RIO guaranteed the leaders that steps would be taken to prevent conducting classes in the summer holidays.
Protests like these were conducted earlier against colleges around the state, which were allegedly pressurizing the students to attend classes regardless of the scorching sun. Reportedly
, 53 colleges in Telangana were raided and issued with notices for conducting summer classes.Source credit- The Hindu
