Seaplanes To Be Introduced In Vizag Soon

Seaplanes will soon be a major tourist attraction in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Kakinada. The AP Tourism Department has finalised the plans to introduce them to these three cities. Six seaplanes will be introduced in the state to begin with.

In Vijayawada, the seaplane offers rides where tourists can view Amaravati aerially for a price of Rs 2000. The project will soon be introduced in a PPP mode. A jetty is under construction at Bhavanai Islands in Vijayawada for operational purposes. The construction of each jetty is estimated to be at Rs 2.5 crore.

A jetty will also come up in Kakinada for the same purpose. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is reportedly eager to provide seaplanes to the state as soon as possible so he can boost the image of the state in the tourism sector. Following his instructions, the tourism department has speeded its progress on launching the seaplanes at the earliest.

The construction of jetties is expensive and a trial run of seaplanes on them will be carried out soon. Each seaplane can carry 40 passengers and can take off in both land and water. It is unclear if the project will initially be launched in Vijayawada and Vizag or Vijayawada and Kakinada. But reports surface that out of the six seaplanes, Vijayawada will get four and Kakinada two, so Visakhapatnam might be left behind for another time.
