Following the footsteps of Jalandhar, Kolkata and Ahmedabad, Vizag is likely going to have its own science city. Still on the planning stage, it will be run and maintained by National Council of Science Museums.
First it will be built at Amravati which would be completed in five years, and the aim of the State Government is to make it a unique one by the year 2025. The project is being financed by the
Central and State governments in a 50-50 ratio with an estimated cost of Rs. 200 crore. The science city will be installed in a three- pronged manner. First, the incubation hub would be installed, then the research and at lat the education hub. Later all these three hubs would be integrated. The science city at Amravati will house 10 museums which will help increase the knowledge of the tourists and visitors.Earlier there were reports that VUDA has already allotted 30 acres of land in Kapuluppada for science city in Vizag. And the science city would likely have Space Odyssey, Dynamotion, Evolution Theme Park, Maritime Centre and a Time Machine which will take its passengers on space voyage among planets and asteroids in the solar system. This will surely attract a lot of visitors!
Science cities in Rajamahendravaram and Madanapalli in Rayalaseema area are also being planned.
