Saint Gobain to set up a manufacturing unit in Vizag

Saint Gobain, a 350-year old French-based construction material-manufacturing company is all set to come to Vizag.

Saint Gobain To Be Set Up In Atchutapuram SEZ

Saint Gobain India Private Limited, which is headquartered in Chennai, will soon be setting up its manufacturing unit in Atchutapuram

The government recognized Atchutapuram SEZ as an appropriate place for setting up the glass manufacturing unit. Initially, the company was offered 164 acres of land at 84 lakhs per acre considering its manufacturing capabilities and employment opportunities. However, after negotiations, the government has agreed to offer 180 acres of land in the Atchutapuram SEZ-2 at 60 lakhs per acre.

Also, as mentioned in the company’s Detailed Project Planning (DPP), the upcoming unit in Vizag would offer direct employment to nearly 1300 people and indirect employment to about 500 people.

The company currently produces 300 tonnes of mirrors. Saint Gobain’s unit near Bhiwadi, Rajasthan is the largest one in India.
