RPF team recovers lost baggage at Visakhapatnam railway station

Railway Protection Force (RPF) was put into action at Visakhapatnam railway station and Duvvada railway station on Saturday when it had to retrieve passengers’ valuables in two separate instances. In both cases, all the lost assets were successfully recovered and handed over to the passengers.

On Saturday, RPF at Visakhapatnam railway station received a grievance from a passenger. The passenger, who has been identified as Salagrama Namani from Vizianagaram, reported that she had lost a trolley bag containing gold ornaments, clothes and cash worth about Rs. 1,05,000. Acting on her grievance, a team of RPF officers searched and successfully retrieved all the lost valuables from A1 Coach of train no. 02644 Patna-Ernakulam Express.

In the other case of lost property, which took place at Duvvada railway station, a passenger lodged a grievance about his lost shoulder bag. The complainant, M Sivadurya from Rajahmundry, reported that his shoulder bag contained two laptops worth Rs. 1,30,000. The bag was recovered later in the day by a team of RPF officers, who handed it over safely to Mr. Sivadurya.

Talking about these two cases, Divisional Railway Manager Anup Kumar Satpathy and Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, Railway Protection Force, Ch Raghuveer both appreciated the efforts of the RPF personnel in locating the lost baggage at a rapid pace and returning it to the concerned passengers.

Railway Protection Force is a security force, under the Union Ministry of Railways, whose sole objective is to keep the various railway stations and trains in the country protected. In Visakhapatnam, RPF has been instrumental in making the various railway stations under Waltair Railway Division safe for passengers.
