It is time to rejoice for Vizag shopaholics. What was a wish of many is becoming true. ‘A Night Market on the Beach’. It is coming to our very own Beach Road very very soon. The inspiration behind this is the Night bazaar at Arpora, Goa; Laguna in US; Andaman and Nicobar etc. The market would include live music, clothes, bags, accessories, jewellery, decor, souvenirs etc. Handicrafts would be a colorful inclusion too.
That is not all. Weekends would be the time for the Night Market on Beach Road. There is a possibility for there being some food festivals at the shopping destination too. All in all, this definitely seems like a good plan. M/S Hoverdock (Vizag) has brought this as a project proposal tothe Tourism Department and the State Government has agreed. A site for the market is to be allotted and officials have been asked to look into it.
Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation is willing to allocate 3775 sq.yards of land to Hoverdock on lease. This area will be used for the Night Market and other tourist attractions. The timings of the market that is being proposed is from 6 p.m to 2/3 a.m every Saturday. Once the site is decided, the work for setting up the market on Beach Road would commence.
Finally Vizag will have it’s very own night market and on the best loved destination in town. Around the world and in India, the Night Market concept is a tremendous tourist and local rowd puller. It will have immense benefit for the tourism scope in Vizag and will be a mass lively hood generator. Tribals, weavers, craftsmen and a host of workers would have direct access to customers. Rather than live on the side lines of the trade, they would have an open market.
For shoppers, the concept is amazing and for foodies too. food counters for traditional, sea food and other fare would take care of your appetite. The question we are left with now is – “How soon can we get it please??”
