22 Year Old Star Hotel Staffer Raped In Visakhapatnam

A 22 year old internee at a star hotel in Visakhapatnam was raped at the hotel on June 4. The incident came to light after the staffer lodged a complaint at Three Town police station on Friday. She was raped by one of her former colleagues, Sridhar, and his friends at the star hotel on Beach Road.

The woman was on her way back home after work when Sridhar and his friend Vinay reportedly picked her up at the gate. They had taken a room at the hotel and she was forced to consume alcohol. The next morning, when she realised she had been raped, she filed a complaint with the police. But conflicting reports state that she was picked up by Sridhar at her home in PM Palem after he threatened her to accompany him. He brought her back to the hotel after consuming liquor at another hotel.

Whatever the case might be, police have lodged a complaint and registered a case against Sridhar, a former receptionist at the hotel. He has been booked under sections 375(D), 342 and 506 of the IPC and a manhunt has been launched for the accused. The victim has been taken to KGH and it is yet to be ascertained as to how many persons were involved and if the heinous crime had taken place at the hotel or anywhere else.

Investigation is on if there was a sedative mixed in the liquor the woman was forced to drink. The victim is reportedly still in shock and police believe Sridhar’s intentions were clear on the crime. He had already booked a room at the hotel through his friend Vinay, a businessman in Singapore, before picking up the victim. A hotel staffer had seen Sridhar taking the victim to the hotel at 5 AM.

Following the advice of hotel management and others, the victim decided to lodge a complaint.
