Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu told the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu that there’s no doubt in the sanction of the new Railway Zone to be set up in Visakhapatnam. He reminded the Minister that it’s a political decision that will be taken sooner than later.
He brought the long-pending issue into focus at an event organised to remotely flag trains and commission the foundation of several railway projects in Vijayawada. 10 new projects were launched at Vijayawada. The CM urged Minister Suresh Prabhu and Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu to speed up progress of the zone.
Minister Suresh Prabhu previously stated that a new era of development had dawned upon the state with the setup of wagon POH workshop at Vedlapudi and the diesel loco shed in Visakhapatnam.
The inaugural function at Vijayawada saw the takeoff of the weekly Hamsafar train between Vijayawada and Howrah. Free WiFi was also launched at Vizianagaram station under Phase-II of the project.
